Weekly News!

October 24th-28th

READING:  This week we are finishing up our study and reading about pumpkins.    We are working on following steps and sequencing of events.   We are learning about showing ownership by adding ‘s, recalling and retelling facts and beginning, middle and end.  Please review our weekly sight words at home!  Also, please read with your child each night.   Next week we will begin studying spiders!

Science: We are continuing our study on Matter.  All students have their study guide within their binder.  Please be sure to read over the study guide with your child and ask them to share some facts they have learned.

MATH:  This week we are reviewing place value and beginning comparing numbers.  Our math vocabulary words include greater than, less than, equal to.    Please continue practicing quick recall of facts at home!  A great website that we use at school for fast facts is www.playkidsgames.com. Thank you!

Our Field Trip:

On Tuesday, October 25th, we will be heading to Holly Fork Farms to learn about pumpkins and the life cycle of a pumpkin.  We are excited to use our knowledge that we have learned about pumpkins at the farm.  All students need to dress in clothes appropriate for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring a coat.  All students will also need to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy at the farm.  If you signed up to chaperone, please arrive at school by   .  Thank you! 

Our Fall Celebration:  On Friday, fliers went home about our upcoming fall celebration, to be held on this Friday, Oct. 28th.  We will be creating spider cookies, crafts and games to kick off our spider study and to celebrate our hard work this nine weeks!  If you were asked to donate an item, please bring it in by Thursday.  Thank you for your help!
